Novo's oral Wegovy drives growth.
CEO Mike Doustdar is positive on Novo Nordisk's GLP-1 business, saying it is going very well. The oral Wegovy pill delivers the same 16.6% weight loss as the injectable and carries cardiovascular benefit label because it uses the same semaglutide molecule. Novo is also making the drug more accessible with $25 copay for insured patients and $149-$249 pricing through partners, which should help address the large unmet need.

Oral pill expands GLP-1 obesity market.
The GLP-1 obesity market is underpenetrated. About 100 million people in the U.S. have obesity, but only around 15 million are on GLP-1 therapies, and many of the remaining 85 million are not treated because they cannot afford the drugs. The new oral Wegovy pill can expand the market because it avoids injection, refrigeration, and societal taboo, opening access to a much larger group of patients.
