Trade Ideas
Short-end Treasury yields will rise
The market is too complacent about the inflation impact from persistent high oil prices. The front end of the yield curve is mispriced, and as the reality of higher-for-longer oil feeds into inflation data and Fed policy, front-end yields will push higher in the coming weeks.
Short the Japanese yen
The Bank of Japan is refusing to raise rates despite inflation, keeping the neutral rate much higher than the policy rate. This gap makes shorting the yen a no-brainer trade, as carry works against the yen and investors are paid to go against it.
