Tax regime boosts eligible dividend stocks
The new dividend-income separate taxation regime applies to listed companies that increase dividends and meet payout conditions: either a payout ratio of at least 40%, or a payout ratio of at least 25% with at least 10% dividend growth. It lowers the top tax burden from roughly 49.5% including local tax to separate rates, raises after-tax income for high-dividend investors, and gives owner and high-net-worth shareholders a strong incentive to increase dividends. This should make eligible high-dividend Korean stocks especially attractive.
