Lee Ki-hoon Senior Research Fellow, Hana Securities Research Center 3PRO TV (삼프로TV)
Chinese inbound lifts Korean hotels and casinos
The speaker is positive on Chinese inbound tourism into Korea. Travel restrictions affecting Japan late last year have reversed visitor flows back toward Korea, similar to the earlier Korea-China dispute when Japanese travel benefited. Flight capacity is shifting back to Korea, and about 80% of visitors to Korea go to Seoul and concentrate in a limited set of hotels. Seoul five-star hotel occupancy is already near optimal or full levels, and the speaker expects both hotels and casinos to perform very well this year as inbound demand remains strong.
