Polygon Labs is acquiring Coinme and Sequence for more than $250 million to create an 'open money stack' that vertically integrates Polygon's blockchain with wallets, on/off ramps, and cross-chain interoperability. Boiron argues this gives Polygon a differentiated global payments infrastructure: it has widespread distribution through applications like Revolut, Stripe, and Flutterwave, controls the underlying chain and can push releases aligned with payments companies and consumers, and can capture share of a stablecoin market he expects to grow 10x-50x over the next few years.
