Kristalina Georgieva — Директор-распорядитель, Международный валютный фонд
IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva discusses Fed Chair Kevin Warsh's Jackson Hole speech, stubborn inflation, fiscal overhangs, technology risk, and global economic resilience. She says central banks should act decisively on inflation, emerging markets have stronger frameworks than advanced economies, AI is boosting growth while energy supply is a risk, and the dollar's reserve status remains well supported. - Georgieva praises Warsh's clarity and commitment to the 2% inflation target. - She attributes above-target inflation to repeated shocks and government spending rather than central bank failure alone. - She urges countries to build buffers, cut deficits and reduce debt while growth is strong. - She says emerging markets now have stronger monetary and fiscal frameworks and are outperforming advanced economies. - She sees AI as a positive growth shock and energy supply as a negative shock; rising energy prices would complicate inflation. - She says financial innovation accelerates both positive and negative spillovers and requires stronger policy frameworks. - She expects inflation expectations to stay anchored but calls for decisive central bank action if needed. - She sees no clear alternative to the US dollar, supported by the US economy and Treasury-backed stablecoins.

AI pushes global growth upward.
AI is identified as one of two major global shocks and is the positive one: it pushes growth up and has helped keep the world economy resilient in the face of energy supply shocks.

Emerging markets stronger than advanced economies.
Emerging markets have done fabulously well because their monetary policy frameworks are strong and their fiscal frameworks are often better than advanced economies after painful crisis experiences; she says they do better than advanced economies, supporting a relative preference for emerging markets.

Energy supply cushions may not last.
Oil and energy prices stayed below feared $100-$150 levels because reserves were deployed, US supply stepped up, alternative energy grew, and demand proved price-sensitive; but these supply and reserve cushions are not forever, so renewed energy price climbs would complicate the inflation story and are a concern.

Dollar strength underpinned; no reserve alternative.
The dollar's reserve-currency status is not being undermined because there is no clear alternative: 98% of stablecoins originate in the US and are backed by Treasuries, and dollar strength is underpinned by the strong US economy, deep and liquid capital markets, venture capital, innovation, and inbound investment.
