The Precipitous Rise and Fall of Situational Awareness

Former Columbia University Valedictorian worked at OpenAI; Subsequently fired, supposedly for leaking confidential information. Neither here nor there in the context of the ensuing story. Starts AI "Hedge Fund"; Hedge Fund in quotes because he got the majority of his funding from billionaire or near billionaire tech bros and then threw nearly all of into various long AI bets, some of which derived and received funding from, you guessed it, aforementioned tech bros. Very little, if any hedging of risk appears to have taken place. AI names see a moderate pullback but as he is (1) overindexed to AI and (2) overlevered (a precarious combo!), he is now underwater. His "hedge fund's" entire stock portfolio is bought out barely two years after launch by a real hedge fund, Citadel, at presumably well below book value. I feel like some people are forgetting what the "hedge" in hedge fund stands for and are being punished swiftly and accordingly. Ah well, at least this cratered before he could be named Forbes 30 under 30, open secret personal trading accounts to siphon away investors capital, and then flee to the Bahamas.
