Reddit reported second-quarter financial results that comfortably surpassed Wall Street expectations across top and bottom lines, though the social media platform saw its stock pull back in after-hours trading following a rapid run-up into the print. Shares dropped 7.7% late Thursday despite the company logging its eighth consecutive quarter of revenue growth above 60% and issuing robust guidance for the upcoming period.
For the three months ended June 30, total revenue expanded 61% year-over-year to $805 million, topping the analyst consensus of $730 million. Net income nearly tripled to $253 million, or $1.25 per diluted share, easily outpacing expectations of $0.95 per share and rising from $89 million, or $0.45 per share, in the prior-year period.
The top-line expansion was driven primarily by the company's core advertising engine, which surged 64% year-over-year to $762 million as marketers increasingly leverage the platform's distinct user communities. Meanwhile, international monetization proved to be a powerful growth driver, with overseas revenue soaring 84% to $167 million against a 56% rise in domestic sales.
User momentum remained firm during the quarter as global daily active unique users (DAUq) rose 18% year-over-year to 130.3 million, slightly ahead of Wall Street estimates. Notably, weekly active uniques crossed a major milestone, jumping 24% to 514.6 million and breaking past the half-billion mark for the first time.
Looking ahead, management delivered a third-quarter outlook that cleared consensus estimates across key operational metrics. Reddit projects third-quarter revenue between $860 million and $870 million, above the Wall Street consensus of roughly $828 million, alongside adjusted EBITDA expected in the range of $385 million to $395 million.
