Summary

Anthony Pompliano interviews Jeff Park, Partner and Chief Investment Officer at ProCap Financial, about the Powell/Fed-independence fight, Bitcoin's muted reaction to it, and the upcoming BitGo IPO. Jeff argues the Fed has never truly been independent and is now constrained by fiscal dominance, while Bitcoin's behavior has changed since institutionalization even though he still views it as a gold proxy with generational-relevance risk. The conversation also covers BitGo as a cheap institutional-crypto pure play, prediction markets and data democratization, and volatile CLARITY Act odds.

  • Powell investigation framed as politicization of an already non-independent Fed
  • Bitcoin did not react to Fed-credibility news or collapsing CLARITY Act odds
  • Jeff Park still sees Bitcoin as a gold proxy; youth disinterest is the key risk
  • BitGo IPO discussed as a pure play on institutional crypto at a stale valuation
  • BitGo's mix spans staking, SaaS/prime brokerage, and a stablecoin revenue share
  • Prediction markets and earlier data release praised as democratizing
  • Galaxy Digital called a less clean institutional crypto beta than BitGo

Bitcoin thesis in flux; watch relevance risk
Bitcoin did not react to the Sunday-night Powell/Fed-independence news flow, and it also barely reacts to the CLARITY Act odds collapsing from 80% to 20%, even though institutional-credibility shocks, dollar risk, and political attacks on the Fed were historically Bitcoin's core thesis. Jeff attributes the muted reaction to Bitcoin's institutionalization: it is no longer the untouchable outsider asset that hedged global instability, and he admits he is no longer sure what the Bitcoin thesis is anymore. He still views Bitcoin primarily as a gold proxy, but the key long-term risk he watches is relevance — young people are losing interest in Bitcoin and gravitating toward AI and other pursuits, so if the younger generation never wants it, the boomer-to-younger wealth-transfer narrative that underpins current demand would break down.

BitGo IPO: pure play at stale valuation
BitGo's IPO is, in Jeff's view, a focused pure play on the institutionalization of crypto, with no real retail business (unlike Coinbase or Gemini). He breaks the business into three pieces: a large, high-margin staking operation (with Sui as its biggest staking asset and the associated altcoin risk), a SAS subscription-style prime-brokerage business that includes the World Liberty Financial stablecoin partnership where BitGo is believed to earn roughly a quarter of revenue, and together these give exposure to crypto's biggest themes. The most compelling part is valuation: BitGo is reportedly coming public at roughly $1.75-2 billion, essentially its Series C valuation from three or four years ago — an arbitrage-like setup and the first IPO where the valuation does not require perfect execution to profit from the growth story. He also argues institutional businesses are stickier with high switching costs, and that high revenue with no current profit reflects onboarding institutions cheaply now in order to monetize value-added services later, since institutional fiduciaries care more about risk and reputation than fees.
