[+5] u/sport912x: The term is Not Margin but Option Buying Power. Here is an overview by the founder of Tos and Tasty. The downside is you need twice the amount of BP as required since BP can go up if the market sells off. So a 5k BP could go to 10k really quick. 30k is kinda tight , 60 would be better. Also the broker should show BP as you create the trade (Tasty , Tos do this, and I think IB , but I do not use them). Also you could get interest on the BP if you use treasuries or Sgov types (70% face on that).
