[+32] u/jj2009128: Sleepy Joe sounds better and better each day. I'd rather have a President who slept and did nothing for 4 years than this.
[+24] u/sNeKbIt99: So remember those aluminium tariffs on Canada?
Well, the Canadians started shipping to Europe, almost 60% of NA's largest shelter, Aluminarie Alouette sent their refined product there in response to the tariffs.
The Americans then began importing mass amounts from the Middle East... now that has dried up and the Canadians are sold.out.
You do it to yourself 'Murica.

[+16] u/staythewaters: US preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran: Report
The Washington Post, citing unnamed US officials, is reporting that the Pentagon is preparing for weeks of ground operations in Iran.
The officials told the publication that the possible ground operation “would fall short of a full-scale invasion” and could involve raids by special forces and “conventional infantry troops”.
The WP said it was unclear whether Trump would approve all, some or none of the Pentagon’s plans.
The report came as the US military announced the arrival of 3,500 troops from the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Middle East. Trump, meanwhile, has called on Iran to accept defeat and threatened to “unleash hell” against the country if it continues to block the Strait of Hormuz.

Good morning, Vie.. I mean, Iran!
[+15] u/Snakekekek: Market corrected 20% in 2022 and the war certainly contributed. If this is a sustained shock, can likely expect similar.
[+14] u/Swimming_Reply6673: Can't wait to watch Trump post some bullshit lie on truth social Sunday evening then watch the market circle jerk over it Monday and pump 3%
[+14] u/AJ_Grey: Kind of miss the days when TACO low effort tariffs were the worse economic decision he made.

'Trump told the Financial Times on Sunday that his “preference would be to take the oil,” comparing it to the U.S. military operation in Venezuela.'
If you needed any more evidence we're off the fucking rails.
[+12] u/sNeKbIt99: The minute Trump is impeached market rallies to njew highs.
[+10] u/OldManYellsAtCloud12: Soon trump will be forced out of office, markets will pump so hard when this happens, spy 7300 eoy.
[+10] u/JamUpGuy1989: People who think the market/economy is magically gonna get better immediately after pulling out of Iran are either:
- Sad, desperate people
- MAGA chuds who have no concept of how anything works
[+8] u/calm_discussion_3500: >No country, importer or ship operator has publicly acknowledged paying a fee, and details of any arrangements remain unclear. But shipping intelligence firm Lloyd’s List reported Monday that more than 20 vessels have used what it described as a new corridor through the strait, with at least two ships understood by Lloyd’s to have paid to do so – one of them reportedly around $2 million.
>Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps has also established a registration system for approved vessels, while some governments are engaging directly with Tehran to secure transit for their tankers, Lloyd’s List reported.
>“This is happening. And I suspect it’s going to happen slightly more frequently if we don’t see some progress in terms of the negotiations,” Richard Meade, editor in chief of Lloyd’s List, told CNN.
Good chance you're going to see a lot more ships on Iran's side of the Strait pay to get through. One potential scenario of a partial reopening is Iran becoming a toll booth.
[+8] u/Happy-Philosophy9211: 3 attempts from trump to drop oil prices in the last 3 hours.
None of them worked
[+6] u/staythewaters: Houthis entered the chat.
[+6] u/Mrikoko: Oil should stabilize once the bypass pipelines through Saudi Arabia, Syria/Turkey, and Jordan are online. Not a perfect replacement, but I don't think oil will get to $200
[+6] u/millerlit: The TACO stand has officially closed.
[+6] u/MayberryDSH: Throwing this out there, I work in Healthcare and United/Optum is doing some crazy odd denials. Blatantly obvious that these claims should be paid. My guess is they wanted to beef up their Q1 numbers.

[+5] u/drew-gen-x: Reddit is now more bearish than Mr Bear himself Dr Doom

"And on that note, I can't remember the last time "Dr. Doom" — aka noted NYU economist Nouriel Roubini — was so upbeat about stocks and the economy.......Roubini, famously dubbed Dr. Doom for his early prediction of the 2008 housing market bust, is one of the world's most influential economists....
Roubini went on to explain that AI stands to drive a lot of productivity in the economy and that he saw signs of the economy accelerating before the war. Once the war ends, he said there's a good chance those trends regain hold.
Roubini added, "If the war lasts only two months, there'll be the slowdown of growth and rising inflation. But it's going to be moderate, and we could still grow faster than potential this year."
[+5] u/DietFoods: Iran says pre-market news is a "reverse indicator."
"If they pump it, short it. If they dump it, go long…See something tomorrow? You know the drill."
Channel 12 says that in case of a U.S. ground operation in Iran, Israeli soldiers will NOT participate on the ground.
[+5] u/DietFoods: Iran announces that it will now target the homes of American and Israeli politicians and U.S. military officials throughout the Middle East.
Iran says this is in response to the United States and Israel targeting residential homes of the Iranian people.
“We will target the residences of American and Zionist regime commanders and political officials.”
"There is still no negotiation or exchange of messages between Iran and the US, and all the information published about this is fake. Iran's decision is to continue the war until the goals are fully achieved and the conditions are fulfilled, and this will continue for as long as necessary. The armed forces are ready for an intense war for at least 6 months. There is a consensus in the political atmosphere about absolute distrust of the US."
