[+5] u/xploeris: The only people who ever needed "third spaces" like malls were teenagers. Grownups can meet at bars, coffeeshops, parks, each others' homes... and they would if they wanted to. They don't and therefore they don't. Maybe the next generation or the one after that will have a seemingly-unprecedented desire to socialize in meatspace, although by then everyone will have forgotten how to do it.
