The Setup #011
Back again. One real company, no name, you crack it in the comments.
The clues:
1. A few years ago everyone declared this business dead. Streaming was going to kill it, they said. Why would anyone leave the sofa? Its stock was priced for a funeral.
2. Except it did not die. This year it swung back to profit, paid off a mountain of debt it took on in a big merger, and now holds more cash than debt.
3. The number for the sharp eyed: forget the ticket. The real business is what people buy at the counter. Every visitor spends about ₹161 on snacks, at almost no cost to the company, and that number grows faster than the ticket price itself.
4. The catch: it makes almost nothing itself. Its whole quarter depends on whether other people's products, released that month, happened to be any good. Great ones and it prints money. Duds and it bleeds. And it trades at half its usual valuation, partly a reward, partly a warning.
