Starting my investing journey with ₹3,000/month — need some guidance
Hi everyone,
I’m in my early 20s and I’m planning to start investing regularly. I can currently invest around ₹3,000 per month.
My initial plan is:
\- ₹2,000/month → Mutual Fund SIP
\- ₹1,000/month → ETF
I’m completely new to investing, so I’m trying to keep things simple rather than having too many funds.
My goal is long-term wealth creation (10+ years). I’m comfortable with some volatility since I’m young and don’t need this money in the short term. I also plan to increase my investment amount gradually as my income increases.
I’m currently confused about a few things:
1. Is a ₹2,000 SIP + ₹1,000 ETF split a good way to start?
2. For the ₹2,000 SIP, should I consider a Nifty 50 index fund, Flexi Cap fund, or something else?
3. For the ₹1,000 ETF, would a Nifty 50 ETF make sense, or is there a better option?
4. With only ₹3,000/month, am I unnecessarily complicating things by investing in both an MF and an ETF?
5. Are there any beginner mistakes I should avoid?
I’m looking for a simple, long-term strategy, not something based on chasing the highest returns.
Would really appreciate suggestions from people who have been investing for a while. Thanks!
