Help figuring out about US stocks and investment, Age:22, Beginner
`Age:22`
`Moderately Aggressive portfolio`
`Started SIP few days back`
`ICICI Prudential Nifty 50 Index Fund: 20k`
`Edelweiss Mid Cap Fund: 20k`
`Bandhan Small Cap Fund: 15k`
I've started my SIP few days ago. Since then Nifty has been going down and my overall portfolio is currently in the red.
As a complete beginner who just started, this hurts a little but I understand that SIPs and equity investing are a long-term game, so I’m not particularly worried about the short-term losses. I’m comfortable staying invested and continuing my SIP.
However, this got me thinking about **diversifying into US equities**. I want to start with 10k/month for this.
One reason I’m interested is the growth of AI. A lot of the major US software/technology companies are heavily involved in AI, and it seems like robotics could be another major growth area over the next 5-10+ years.
I’m therefore considering putting a small portion of my portfolio into US stocks/ETFs, rather than relying entirely on Indian mutual funds.
# What I’m wondering
**- Am I thinking about this correctly?**
**- Which platform should I use from India?**
**- Taxes and compliance??**
**- How should I actually start? :** Would it make more sense to invest a fixed amount every month into a broad US ETF, or accumulate money and invest periodically
**- Should i not start with US market just yet, and buy some gold instead?**
**-** **And any other general suggestion would be appreciated** **:)**
