I am young and for the most part completely uneducated on investing. All I know is I have a monthly automated investment into vti, and I randomly had this question pop into my head. I dont have a very good understanding on economics as a whole, so im sorry if this question is ridiculous.
Its just something thats worried me more and more with people making comments and jokes this year because July 4 2026 was officially America's 250th birthday, and 250 years is an average empires lifespan etc etc. So basically it just scares me because my whole plan as a boglehead is to play the long game, but theres a little devil on my shoulder saying the long game isnt the best idea
