Cleaning up/consolidating
Hello:
If it's not obvious, I have a pretty simple understanding of these things. I would appreciate any responses that are geared toward a relative simpleton.
I have a variety of accounts (some tax advantaged, some not) that I have not paid much attention to. I have adopted a Bogle-style approach for my financial planning going forward, but I have investments that are outside of the three-fund portfolio from my younger-self's misguided attempts to manage my finances. I've created a worksheet that lets me look at my total allocations by rough category (U.S. stock ETFs, international stock ETFs, bonds) even if those are spread out in different accounts and funds. Some don't fit into one of these categories, like a REIT, or some individual stocks.
My plan is to basically leave all of these things as-is, and focus on the three-fund portfolio for future investments. Is that a good idea? Or should I sell stuff and reallocate it into the three-fund portfolio?
Also, is there any easy way to keep track of allocations across different accounts?
Last question (for now): my employer-based 401k only allowed investment in a target fund. Is there a simple way to incorporate that into my overall allocation calculations?
Thank you!!
