Someone who lived through 1999 dot com crash...
There are some very large differences between then and now. In the late 90s, any company with dot Com in the name had obscene valuations. Pretty much none of them were making money and practically none were profitable. Look at Yahoo buying Mark Cuban's trash company. Oh and new companies were going public every week. Cookiedough.com, dogplaydate.com, videomyonion.com... they were all getting 9 figure valuations.
Today AI is the word. Sure. However, most of the concepts around AI and its future use are sound. Big players are largely in the AI trade. Companies with highly tangible products. When obscure companies start popping up with no revenue and a dream of a product and people are dumping billions into them, then it will be like the 1990s.
Sure there are some crazy valuations like Tesla and AMD, but they have never had a rational PE. That isn't specifically an AI problem. Could I see Nvidia dropping to 1 or 2 T? Sure. But it has earning to claw back.
I guess my point is this market doesn't feel crazy to me in comparison. The next crash will probably be something crazy like a war with China or the next big money scam from Wallstreet. AI isn't going anywhere. It is legit. DLSS 5 proves it.
