Western Union yields over 11% and just launched a stablecoin product. Reward or value trap? Hi all, some of you might recognize me from previous posts here. I'm the GM of the stock business at Obermatt. We run a rules-based ranking system that scores stocks 1 to 100 against their industry peers across Value, Growth, Safety, and Sentiment. This month I went through the highest Dividend Yield ranks in the US and Canada. Western Union stood out. It yields somewhere between 11 and 13 percent, on a stock that has fallen for years as digital alternatives take share from traditional money transfers. Its Value rank is 100. Its Sentiment rank is 19, one of the weakest on the list. What makes it worth a second look is a recent move. The company just launched Stablecard, a stablecoin-linked card built with the fintech Rain. That lands right on the theme this year's Jackson Hole Economic Symposium was built around, financial innovation in payments. Whether that changes the growth picture or ends up a side project is the real question behind the yield.
