A Prague court has ruled that Google must pay Czech price-comparison company Heureka roughly **400 million CZK (\~$20M)** for illegally favoring its own Google Shopping service in search results between 2013 and 2016.
The breakdown is approximately **250M CZK in damages + 150M CZK in interest**. The ruling is not final and can still be appealed.
Obviously, $17M is financially insignificant for Alphabet. What seems more interesting from an investor perspective is the precedent: local companies can potentially pursue damages based on Google’s past antitrust behavior, on top of regulatory fines.
