Honestly this keeps bugging me. Look at almost every major tech shift and the guys who cash in the most aren’t the ones who started it.
Browsers first. Netscape was crushing it mid 90s, like 80%+ share in early 96. Microsoft shoved IE through Windows, then Google only launched Chrome in 2008 and somehow that became the one everyone uses.
Search same thing. Yahoo was already the main entry point by 94, had over 50 million users by end of 98. Google showed up late 98 and just slowly ate the whole market.
So yeah when people act like today’s AI leaders are guaranteed to still be on top in 2040 I just don’t buy it. History keeps repeating.
