U.S. home prices are now above the peak of the 2006 housing bubble, adjusted for inflation.
Since 2019, the average annual cost of owning a home has jumped 39%.
Emergency repairs +175%
Maintenance +85%
Insurance +72%
Interest +35%
Property taxes +31%
And the income needed to afford a typical home hit $109,152 in June. That’s up $15,600 since January.
Meanwhile, home prices are reaching record highs, and insurance, taxes, repairs, and HOA fees keep rising.
Buying a home is expensive. Now keeping one is more expensive.
