Sandisk is up around 788% YTD and roughly 4,860% over the past year.
That is the kind of move nobody believes until it already happened. The funny part is that the trade was not some new AI app. It was storage. NAND. SSDs. Data center plumbing.
That is what I keep coming back to with AI infrastructure.
The biggest winners are not always the names with the cleanest story. Sometimes they are the boring bottlenecks the market eventually stops ignoring.
I am not saying NRED is the next SNDK. Completely different sector, different risk profile, different stage.
But I do think the lesson matters.
AI is not just chips and models. It is power, cooling, transmission, substations, storage, grid buildout, and materials. Copper sits inside a lot of that physical infrastructure.
That is why I keep smaller copper stories on the watchlist, even though they are much riskier than producers.
NovaRed is still early-stage. Wilmac has no resource, no mine, and no production. Copper Mountain being about 10 km away is useful district context, but it does not prove Wilmac has the same mineralization.
The latest update is why I think the setup is getting more concrete.
NovaRed laid out a 2026 field program with expanded soil sampling, four IP/AMT geophysical surveys, and an initial drill program contemplated for fall 2026, subject to receipt of an approved drill permit being acquired from the previous operator.
The sequence matters more than the headline.
They collected 970 soil samples in 2025 using pXRF, with samples expected to go to ALS Chemex for four-acid digestion and multi-element ICP analysis. That is not flashy, but it is the type of work that can turn a land package into ranked drill targets.
The four grids are North Lamont, West Lamont, Wilmac, and Plume. The initial drill order is expected to focus on Wilmac, Lamont, then the Trojan-Condor Corridor.
So the question is not whether this is already a discovery. It is not.
The question is whether the 2026 work can tighten the model enough before the drill turns.
That is where early-stage juniors either become real or stay as story stocks.
My read: the market already learned with AI storage that boring infrastructure can rerate hard once the bottleneck becomes obvious. Copper exploration is way earlier and way riskier, but NRED is at least moving from vague potential into a fieldwork and drill-path setup.
