For the last 2 weeks Ive been off work so Ive been able to do 0DTE. Things were good until June 2nd when my account went from 23k to 13k in 1 day because of SPC3. Not only was I not scaling back my positions with profit but I had no stop loss. My contract was expiring 6/18 and news tanked the stock. I was up 9k on that alone. Ever since then my psychology has shifted from “trusting my system & letting the trade play out” to “I dont want to give up gains so I’ll take profits early”. Not only have I done this but I missed out last Friday on $2600 -> 16k. 1 trade I closed at 300 profit and the other I didnt take because I thought “theres no way the market could go down more” well it did. Spy dropped another 1.5%. That leads me to today. Yesterday I got into a trade and within 3 minutes, it reached my SL(-56% roc). So I know for a fact that influenced me today. Today I was down but it never hit my SL, just very close. I closed thinking “Im above breakeven, ill leave here with something, and its better than being down 1k.” Well had I just stayed out my way I wouldve made close to $5600. I’ve never day traded before, I’ve always been swing trading, operating from the daily chart checking it once per day. The amount of mental fortitude and short term memory needed to day trade is insane. I get great opportunities but I just keep missing out thinking im the real Wolf Of Wallst
Any 0DTE tips as far as contract sizing, scaling or adding on to a position? Do you go into it fully expecting max loss? Anything would be appreciated. Ive missed out because Ive had too much influence from outside news noise, just overthinking things, or being occupied at work taking profits early because i wont have access to my phone. Ive missed out on at least 50k at this point.
