This is peak pre-TACO TACO politics. Trump says he “postponed a scheduled attack on Iran tomorrow” after Saudi, UAE, and Qatar leaders asked him to. Funny part is I bet most people didn’t even know there was supposedly an attack planned for tomorrow until he said it himself.
So basically: create the idea of an imminent attack, publicly delay it, then act like the master negotiator and peacemaker for stopping the thing you just announced. Feels like negotiating with yourself.
Step 1: announce crisis.
Step 2: postpone crisis.
Step 3: take credit for saving everyone from crisis.
You can literally watch markets react to this stuff in real time. it’s almost up 1% from the session lows after the whole “postponed attack” headline.
