The wealthiest 10 people on earth gained $1.3 trillion during COVID.

During COVID-19, the 10 wealthiest people on Earth gained $1.3 trillion in net worth. At the same time, the bottom 100 million people lost their jobs. We are all here trying to discuss our personal finance and budgeting and managing money while there are literal billionaires out there who would spend our monthly salary at a restaurant and not even bat an eye. How is it that in the same global event, where everyone went through the same thing, there were completely opposite outcomes between wealth classes. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but at this point, I don't think it was "bad luck" or a random shock, this was the system working exactly as it was designed to. During a bull market, the rich don't loose any actual value because they are all tied up in hard assets. During a bear market, the rich benefit from those same assets because the market is doing well. How do they win every time?? IMO, the pandemic wasn't an "economic disaster". It was literal wealth inequality dressed up in a fancy suit. Curious to hear what people here think about this.
