I have noticed something about investing that nobody really talks about. Investing is a thing for a lot of people but there is this one thing about investing that people do not usually mention. It is really strange that people do not discuss this aspect of investing. Investing can be. There are many things to consider when you are investing. The thing, about investing that I am talking about is something that I think people should know. Investing is important. People should understand all the different parts of investing.
When the market is open even if my portfolio is losing money I feel really calm for some reason. There is always something going on the market is moving things are happening. I think I can do something to change my portfolio. My portfolio is what is, on my mind and I like that my portfolio is something I can try to control when the market is open.
But weekends? Especially Sunday evenings?
That is when the overthinking starts. It. It just does not stop. The overthinking is always about the things, like what the future holds for the overthinking person and what the overthinking person can do to make things better. The overthinking is really hard to deal with especially when it happens at night because that is when the overthinking is, at its worst.
You think about every decision you made during the week. You replay the things you did and the things you said. The week was pretty long. You made a lot of decisions. You replay every decision you made during the week like what you ate for breakfast and what you wore to work. Every decision you made during the week is going through your head.
• I am thinking about the times when the price of something went down. I did not buy more of it when I had the chance. Why did I not buy more of it when the price dipped? I should have bought more of it when the price was low.
• I am thinking about that thing I sold. I wish I had not sold it so quickly. I keep wondering why I sold that thing early. That thing is really on my mind and I am thinking about what I did, with that thing.
• I wonder if I should have sold my stocks and taken the money when I had the chance. The question is, should I have taken profits when I had the opportunity to do so? Taking profits is a decision and I am thinking about whether I should have taken profits or not.
• What if the futures market opens and the prices are really low I mean, in the red?
• I wonder if I missed something that happened recently did I miss some news?
I do not feel like anything is going on. The mental stress of the situation is really getting to me. It feels like it is even worse than when the market's actually open and things are happening with the live market hours. The live market hours are usually really tough. This is even tougher, on my mind.
I find myself opening these apps over and over to check the Friday closing numbers. I do this even though I know the Friday closing numbers will not be different. It is like I think the Friday closing numbers will somehow change before Monday. I keep checking the Friday closing numbers. They stay the same.
When the market is open you have to do something. The market is open. That is when you react to the market. You see what is happening in the market. Then you make a move. The market is what you are paying attention to.
When the door is closed you think about things. That is really hard on you. Reflection is a lot more difficult for the mind than it seems. It can be very stressful, for people when they have to do it. The process of reflecting on things can be tough. When you are reflecting you are going to feel that stress.
Curious if this is just me or if others feel the same quiet portfolio anxiety once the charts stop moving.
