Early in my investment career, I was very interested in exciting stories and exciting narratives. There was something highly alluring about investing in the next big thing, into the people, companies, and product that will change the world.
But, now, after 30 years of investing, I learned that making money is not about investing into 'sexy' stocks, but about the boring fundamentals, and boring companies that rarely make the headlines, but deliver consistent, reliable, returns that compounds overtime. For example, take a company like Lotus Bakeries, making freaking biscuits and gingerbread, the stock has grown by over 15000% since coming public in the early 2000s!
This is not to say that exciting stories don't make you money, finding and sticking to the next Tesla early on can you make you tons of money, but more often then not such stories end up in the bargain basement.
With the above in mind, what's your most boring, yet compelling, investment idea?
