Now this is not a big Cap, so many might be unaware of this stock.
Vertex provides enterprise tax technology solutions for retail trade, wholesale trade, and manufacturing industries in the United States and internationally.
It's software subscription and cloud buisness have shown decent growth over the last couple of years. Revenue growth has been double digit every year since 2021. Profitability was a second priority after growth, but is improving.
I thaught that this is the kind of company, that can actually use AI in a meaningfull way and so do the people at Vertex.
Now here comes the catch: The stock is down about 80% YoY. If you look at the one year chart it looks like the steps into the basement (scary), the stock basically doesn't move unless there are quarterly numbers reported, then it drops by about 15-20%.
There are no dividends but a small buyback.
I still don't think that this company can easily be replaced by in house vibe coding. There still is a lot of room to grow especially in Europe, but I must admit even though my buy-in is really low when compared to the analysts mean, these bags are getting really heavy.
What do you think? A great opportunity for value with an overly pessimistic market or the very definition of a falling knife?
