Why are people here so into robo taxis?

Even if you generously assume they will be broadly legalized, rather than on an area by area basis when roads are confirmed to be AI friendly and not a cluster fuck of edge cases… do you really think the capex of all the maintenance makes it a good business? wouldnt you just expect uber to hire contractors who own AI vehicles and call it “uber bot” or something lol weirdest moonshot narrative that ppl have talked about for a decade now
