Why you're not making money in value investing

If someone posts about a stock on r/valueinvesting and it gets 100+ up votes (e.g. $NVO, $PYPL), chances are that it is a meme stock. These stocks get bought up very quickly leaving little room for organic price discovery. By the time you buy it, most of the hidden value is already found. And since the people buying it represent dumb money (i.e., you), these stocks often get sold off at the first scent of trouble. These unseasoned investors lack the patience, experience amd fortitude necessary. That's why you are seeing a lot of stocks getting sold off after decent earnings reports. If you want to find real value stocks, you need to find the posts that have almost no upvotes, or, better yet, do your own research and find your own stocks using a screener. There are a lot of posts on r/valueinvesting that are getting almost no attention and those stocks are getting 20%, 30%, 40% in a year or even somestimes just a few months. The WSB people are making fun of this sub today because it's participants are losing money the "smart" way.
