I know this isn't a political sub but I would like to ask this because it is related to stocks.
Most people here will have an average net worth and income and most if us will have come to the realisation that if you don't participate the economic growth, which nowadays is mostly driven by hyperscalers, they will fall behind.
The divergence between the real economy/wages and the financial markets is growing and very few people are profiting massively off of this.
I obviously think that small investors can participate in the economic growth via the stock market and I even think they have some advantages to institutionals because they don't have to meet certain criteria but I don't know if this is a good trend and I would like to know your opinion ont this.
People can't afford real estate, medical bills are surging while the doctors seem to care less about their patients wellbeing due to the privatisation of healthcare, everthing is getting ads or subscription based models while the focus of the content is quantity over quality.
I don't want to morally blame the companies or CEOs but I think the average person needs to participate in economic growth and "the more screen time the better" can't be the policy of the biggest companies in order for society to function properly.
The stock market prefers monopolies or conglomerates that have huge market share like META, LVMH or ADBE because they can buy up competitors or just have such a wide moat that no company can compete which leads to them putting ads everywhere, lowering product quality or charging ridiculous subscription fees.
Investing in these stocks feels like sawing of the branch you are sitting on.
How do you feel about this?
