So about a month back, I was catching up with a friend who works as an equity research analyst, and he mentioned something interesting. Even with all these AI tools out there—ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini—none of them are really cutting it for stock research. He broke down a few reasons why:
The main issues:
* You can't always trust where the info is coming from
* Pulling financial data and getting it into a usable format is still a pain
* Everything comes back as these massive text dumps instead of organized, structured data you can actually work with
* There's no way to control which sources get used
* Even the "deep research" features aren't reliable enough when you need accuracy
Basically, analysts end up doing a ton of manual cleanup before they can even start analyzing anything.
