I have read through the guidelines and rules, but if this type of question is not allowed, I apologize- and feel free to delete.
I am wondering the reasons individuals pursue "dividends" in todays age of discount brokerage and fractional share commission free trading. It is well documented that a dividend is simply moving money from the left pocket to the right- a 100 share price that declares a 10% dividend sends you a check for $10 and the share price is adjusted to $90.
I am of the opinion that dividends are essentially a less tax efficient investment method, but am not closed minded and would welcome the opinion from others.
