According to Minnesota OCM, cannabis sales were at $31 million on 466,000 transactions from Sept.16 to Dec. 31 & had a median price of a gram is $13.54. Vireo Growth had all 8 dispensaries selling Sept. 16th. Green Thumb had 5 of 8 selling Sept. 17th with 2 more selling soon after and another the week of Oct.6th. Tribes already had dispensaries open.
I'll try to guesstimate what % of this is going to Vireo and Green Thumb.
I know that Vireo Growth's Q3(2025) numbers showed a $1,095,995 increase with 2 weeks of rec sales - Q2 2025 Minnesota Retail - $10,858,055 (medical) - Q3 2025 Minnesota Retail - $11,954,050 (medical + rec). Green Thumb does not break down state sales in their earnings but based on canopy size it sounds like it has around 65% of Vireo Growth's sales. Vireo’s total medical cannabis canopy is listed as 35,265.6 square feet and the company is allowed to cultivate up to 17,632.8 square feet of recreational cannabis. Green Thumb’s total medical canopy is 23,040 square feet, allowing it to grow up to 11,520 square feet of plants for adult use.
As of January 22, 2026 there are 49 dispensaries in Minnesota with most just opening recently that are not tribal (14), Vireo (8) or Green Thumb (8). Most of these dispensaries are likely now getting their product from tribes (assuming majority but could be wrong), Vireo & Green Thumb. Minnesota license process is extremely slow & other cultivation hasn't started which results in a massive supply shortage.According to Minnesota OCM,
It would be a pretty good guess to say that of the $31 million that 95% -100% came from tribes, Vireo Growth and Green Thumb. Location-wise - Vireo Growth & Green Thumb dispensaries are pretty ideal. This is my guess in marketshare that Vireo has 36%, Green Thumb has 24% & tribes have 35-40%. The two weeks of rec sales for Vireo in Q3 (2025) also helps me come to that conclusion. I'm pretty positive rec sales have been on an uptick as I did see sell-outs of strains in a few Vireo dispensaries.
