Hey guys. Extremely new to stocks and Fidelity. My MIL set me up with Primerica when my great grandparents passed and put my inheritance into a Roth IRA through them. Her and her husband were doing Primerica at the time. I didn’t know anything but knew I needed a savings plan. They got out. Just found out last year they weren’t my account managers anymore after leaving. I’m pretty sure they still use Primerica services though. I don’t know anything about stocks as it is so when I found out I was obviously pissed. Made the decision to switch to Fidelity finally. I’ve been wanting to leave Primerica for quite some time because it’s so shady and you can’t control or see anything yourself really without going through someone.
Anyways, now I’m with Fidelity. I had asked before on r/personalfinance what to do and I remember them telling me my money will be in stocks that are basically crap. High expense ratio funds owned by them.
This is what shows on my account that I own:
ACGIX
VAFAX
SMEAX
AIIEX
ASIAX
When I asked for advice on r/personalfinance they told me to sell what I was in and build a 3 fund portfolio. Like VTI VXUS BND or VT and BND.
I honestly have no idea what to do or what most of this means. I did read about the ones I own now and they’re not good is what I’m gathering? Sorry to sound so inept on this topic. I genuinely don’t know what to do. I was going to call Fidelity and have them help me but I don’t even know what to say or ask.
I also need to withdraw some of my money to pay off credit cards. Recently pregnant and going to stop working and we can’t take on the debt with one paycheck. If it helps I’m also 33 years old if this makes a difference for anything above.
Thank you all.
