Can someone explain to me like I am a small child who knows next to nothing, the difference between the[ Canada's Gold Reserves which are zero, completely sold off as of 2016](https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/gold-remains-absent-canadas-foreign-190605722.html), and the [Royal Canadian Mint Canadian Gold Reserves ETF (MNT.TO)](https://www.reserves.mint.ca/tsx_gold/about/) which I own some of and continue to be confused by. I have read the linked page that explains what the ETF is and am still a little confused.
