Hi,
This is not a complaint, just that I am learning things a little late. So bear with me. Please put your thoughts. This might help a lot of people like me.
I started my investment journey from about 2018 or so, mainly into MF. I am with Sharekhan, as at the beginning, I had no idea about investing in MF. (Although I burnt my fingers trying to do trading back in 2007, just before the crash, that's another story, not important here.) So, I kept doing lump sums during COVID and then continued with SIP, and today I am with decent profits; my XIRR is around 18%. My 90% of investments in MF rest in stocks. Today, my total portfolio is just above 1CR.
Recently, I started putting the questions to AI and came across some information where it said that the brokerage charges charged by Sharekhan, even though it's advertised as 0.01 or so, but when it comes to reality, I am paying a hefty amount. According to the AI for 1CR invested in MF, probably I am paying something like 7 to 10 K per month without knowing. Instead, I should be doing these MF investments directly without going through Sharekhan. That is shocking to me, so I want a confirmation from you all. Is this information correct? Because whatever the service I am getting from Sharekhan is definitely not worth that money. I want your opinions.
Currently, I am thinking about moving out from Sharekhan and going direct, yes there is Tax implications, but then I have to pay the taxes at some point, right?
