I parted ways with a financial advisor, and my IRA and Roth IRA consist of many individual stock picks. I understand the philosophy of low cost index/ETF, and have made some investments in SCHG, VTI, and some international index funds.
My question here is what should I do with the individual stocks and when? Some are down, do I eat the loss and close the position to redeploy to a fund? Some are winners and way up, do I close out and walk away? To be fair, we're not talking massive amount. I feel like $3-5k stake in Google, Amazon, Nvidia could be fine to hold on to even if there is overlap in the larger SCHG holdings. Would welcome some thoughts here.
