Hey everyone,
I’ve been building a personal stock research assistant app for the past few months and it’s gotten to the point where a few friends using it are telling me I should release it. Still not sure if I will quite yet, it depends on if there’s actual interest. But I wanted to share what it does and see what people think. The short version: it’s an AI-powered research tool that actually knows YOU. Your portfolio, your watchlist, your investing style, your thesis on each position. Every conversation builds on the last one. It’s not starting from zero every time you ask a question.
What makes it different:
It remembers everything. Add your positions with your entry price and your thesis (“bought NVDA at $450 because I’m bullish on AI infrastructure”). From then on, when you ask “how’s my portfolio looking?” or “should I be worried about NVDA?” - it knows your context. Your cost basis, your targets, your reasoning. It’s like having a research analyst who actually knows your situation.
Real example conversations:
\- “I have $3,000 to add to my portfolio - where does it make sense given my current positions?”
\- “Walk me through the bull and bear case for AMD”
\- “Any of my stocks reporting earnings soon?”
\- “What’s the short interest situation on nvda right now?”
\- “Congress has been buying - what are they loading up on?”
Congress trading data. you can see what senators and representatives are buying and selling. The STOCK Act requires disclosure within 45 days.
Proactive alerts. It scans your watchlist and portfolio throughout the day and pings you when something matters:
\- One of your stocks is approaching a support level you might want to know about
\- Earnings coming up in 3 days on a position you hold
\- Unusual insider buying or selling activity
\- Short squeeze setups developing (high short interest + days to cover)
\- Your position hit your target price
It’s not spam - it’s stuff that actually matters for stocks you care about.
The Stockman Score. I built a 0-100 scoring system that combines:
\- Technical indicators (RSI, MACD, moving averages, Bollinger Bands, etc.)
\- Fundamentals (P/E, margins, debt levels)
\- Momentum and relative strength vs S&P 500
\- Sentiment (news, social, analyst ratings)
\- Insider activity and institutional flows
It generates signals based on actual quantitative research, things like MACD + RSI combinations, insider buying patterns, etc. Not predictions, just data synthesis.
Support and resistance levels calculated automatically so you know where the key price levels are.
News with sentiment scoring - every headline gets a bullish/bearish/neutral tag so you can quickly scan what’s moving a stock.
Voice mode - you can literally talk to it. Ask questions out loud, get spoken responses. I use it while driving or making coffee in the morning.
Morning briefings - wake up to a quick summary of your portfolio, what’s moving, and what to watch today.
Paper trading - test ideas with fake money before committing real capital.
I’m thinking about opening it up to a small group for free or for cheap (depending on how much it’ll cost me) in exchange for honest feedback. I’d love to hear different perspectives on what’s good/bad/additions?/ etc.
