Coming from a longer-term investing mindset, one thing I still struggle with is filtering signal vs noise, especially in mid & small caps where narratives change fast but price often doesn’t follow through.
In theory, I look at structure, volume expansion, relative strength vs Nifty, sector context, and fundamentals. In practice, it often feels like you either:
• enter too late after the move is obvious, or
• get chopped trying to anticipate breakouts that never sustain.
Curious to hear your process:
• Do you start with sector themes (PSUs, defence, infra, EMS, etc.) or pure price action?
• What’s your minimum requirement for a stock to go from noise to tradable/investable?
• How much weight do you give to support/resistance holding on higher timeframes?
• Do you need volume confirmation, or is structure alone enough?
• At what point do you completely stop tracking a stock?
Not looking for stock names or calls more interested in process, especially from people who’ve seen multiple market phases.
Would love to learn how different people filter conviction from hype.
