My situation: 26 y/o. Travel healthcare. Make about 80-100k yearly after taxes
Below is how I've been distributing my money after expenses.
1. Building 3-6 month emergency fund in hysa
2. Maxing out Roth IRA
3. 15-20% from each paycheck into company 401k
- I don't have an employer match. As a travel worker I switch companies often to prioritize pay and good jobs. Most companies require to to stay with them long term for a match
4. Invest in individual brokerage
5. Loans
- I have about 30k in student loans at about 4.2% weighted interest. No other debt. I've opted to pay the monthly minimum for my 10 year repayment plan and invest excessive money instead. Hope the possible return on my investment will build more than the guaranteed return of paying off the loans.
I also opened a traditional IRA so that I can rollover my past 401ks into one account.
