First time posting here. Looking for some advice about consolidating funds within a traditional IRA.
Last year I opened a traditional IRA with Vanguard, then moved my other traditional IRAs into the new Vanguard IRA to make managing things simpler.
Now I’ve got all my funds in a single IRA managed by Vanguard, however the individual fund allocations within those previous IRAs remain the as they were before. The transfer to a single account did not change the funds, just the custodian of the IRA itself. This morning I spent some time trying to figure out how to move from those older funds into the Vanguard funds I’m currently investing into.
When I select the Vanguard fund, I have the option to buy, sell, and exchange. But the funds that come over from their previous IRAs only have buy & sell. I’m looking to avoid accidentally moving funds out of the IRA and triggering a taxable event. Is this the right way to do that?
Has anyone else done this, is this something that can be done through the Web/App interface? Thanks in advance.
