I’m a long-term DIY investor with a full-time job, and before I spend time building something, I want to sanity-check whether this idea is fundamentally flawed — especially from a Boglehead perspective.
The problem I’m trying to solve is not day trading or market timing, but noise. A lot of investing forums skew toward short-term speculation, hype, and constant activity, which I personally find distracting and counterproductive.
The idea I’m considering is a small, moderated forum where validated long-term investors share mid- to long-term investment ideas or theses, with an emphasis on:
• time horizon clearly stated
• risks and assumptions made explicit
• no short-term predictions or trading talk
• focus on staying disciplined and aligned with one’s plan
The target user is a busy investor who already believes in long-term thinking but wants a high-signal place to generate ideas and stay accountable, not chase returns.
My honest question:
Is this inherently a bad idea that would just reintroduce noise and behavioral mistakes — or could something like this be genuinely useful if designed carefully?
I’m not selling anything and I’m very open to being told this should not exist. I’d rather kill a bad idea early than build something that encourages the wrong behavior.
