This year I’m prioritizing a mega backdoor Roth through my employer plan and I’m on track to put ~$52k into my 401k between my contributions and employer match. Because of that, there isn’t really extra income left to fund a Roth IRA.
Am I missing anything by skipping the Roth IRA and focusing on the mega backdoor instead? From my understanding, once the money is in Roth, the tax treatment is essentially the same — but want to sanity-check with others who’ve thought this through.
