Where should one invest 100k when in their 40's?

So I heard Warren buffet said the first 100k is tough. But once accomplished, it's life changing. Where would you invest that 100k for the best outcome? Let's say it's not needed for 15-20 years. I know nothing about investing besides bank CDs which pay barely 3.8 these days.
