**An Eyewitness Account of Tanzania’s Stolen Election and the Price of Speaking Out**
*By Ricardo Jarvis, MSc, USAF Veteran*
What happens when an election produces a result so extreme it exposes the lie beneath the system?
In ***98 Percent***, Ricardo Jarvis—a U.S. Air Force veteran, former college professor, and international business and technology consultant—documents what he witnessed firsthand while living in Tanzania during the country’s most controversial election and its violent aftermath.
Returning to Tanzania in 2025, Jarvis expected political tension. What he encountered instead was a nation under siege: a tightly controlled election culminating in a staggering **98% victory**, followed by nationwide protests, mass arrests, internet blackouts, electricity and water disruptions, and a brutal crackdown on civilians. As an outsider living among ordinary Tanzanians, he watched as neighborhoods were raided, peaceful protesters were shot, and fear became a tool of governance.
