Summary

Kim Dong-hwan, Lee Sun-yeop, and Vincent discussed whether the AI boom is a bubble, Korean and US market outlooks for 2026, and key risks around liquidity, policy, and power shortages. Lee argued the AI cycle is earnings-backed and identified solar, batteries, nuclear, and LNG as AI power-bottleneck plays. Vincent flagged Nvidia's operating margin as a bubble signal, remained positive on Korea and SK Hynix, and favored Korea in H1 and the US in H2. They also debated Trump, stablecoins, commercial-law reform, and leverage risks.

  • AI bubble debate: real earnings and improving performance versus valuation and margin warning signs.
  • Lee Sun-yeop's 2026 themes: AI power bottleneck, solar, batteries, nuclear, and LNG.
  • Vincent's key AI risk gauge: Nvidia operating margin as a potential cycle-peak signal.
  • Korea outlook: domestic pro-equity policy and household asset shift support KOSPI.
  • Relative allocation: Korea in H1, US in H2, with Korea favored for AI hardware.
  • Vincent's top pick: SK Hynix as the leading Korean stock, with monthly accumulation.
  • Macro risks: Trump-driven liquidity, stablecoin private QE, and possible rate-hike correction.
  • Advice: avoid leverage and speculative junk stocks; favor verified leaders and trusted content.

AI cycle is real, not bubble.
The AI boom is not a bubble because AI has real earnings and performance is still improving; capex is not excessive but necessary to keep improving performance. The cycle can continue until consumer choice narrows to only two or three dominant AI models, at which point other players stop investing and demand for chips, including Nvidia, can fall. Until that signal, AI and semiconductor leadership should remain intact.
Watch Nvidia operating margin for AI bubble.
The AI sector is bubble-like on valuation and Buffett-indicator measures, but the key bubble signal is not revenue growth; it is Nvidia's operating margin. If Nvidia's operating margin stalls or breaks down, that could mark the peak or end of the AI cycle, so Nvidia's margin trend is the main risk gauge to watch.
H1 Korea, H2 US; prefer Korea.
Using liquidity growth as the barometer, Korea should outperform in the first half and the US in the second half of 2026. He personally sees Korea as relatively more attractive because investors know many of the companies, taxes are favorable, and Korea is a rare global partner for US AI hardware, robotics, and autonomous driving given China security concerns and US non-listed robot exposure.

Solar, batteries, nuclear, LNG on AI power.
For 2026, AI's next bottleneck is electricity. Immediate power needs should favor solar and secondary/EV batteries, while longer-term power demand supports nuclear and LNG as new leadership themes. These are underappreciated areas because AI companies cannot improve performance without securing enough power.
US leads AI software.
The US is likely to remain strong in AI software and software-related AI applications, even though Korea is the better hardware play. This is a relative preference for US AI software within the AI value chain.
SK Hynix remains Korean market leader.
SK Hynix remains the leading Korean stock for 2026 because it sits at the intersection of GPU/TPU and HBM/AI memory demand. Even as US AI software leadership may be attractive, Korea's edge is AI hardware, and SK Hynix is the momentum leader; he advocates regular monthly accumulation rather than simply holding old long-term positions.
