Samsung weakness overdone; trend already turned.
Samsung Electronics' post-shareholder-return weakness is overdone. The company went from not even 20 trillion won of buybacks to a 110 trillion won program, and the market is comparing it unfavorably to SK Hynix even though Samsung only confirmed the initial employee-allocated buyback and is likely to provide more specifics on buyback and cancellation. Foreigners and institutions bought Samsung on Friday, and Lee believes Samsung Electronics has already completed a trend reversal, so weakness is a chance to average down.
Memory pricing powers SK Hynix higher.
SK Hynix is the main memory beneficiary of NVIDIA's 15% Rubin server price increase, which explicitly passes through higher memory prices to customers. HBM concerns tied to Rubin Ultra specifications should be resolved, and then SK Hynix should go higher. SK Hynix has also already completed a trend reversal as of Friday, so pullbacks are buying opportunities.
Favorable FX improves US stock entry.
With the dollar weakening and USD/KRW falling toward the 1,380s, US stock investors have suffered large FX losses. Lee sees the stronger won as an attractive reverse setup: it is now a good time to enter US stocks through FX conversion, and his own recent US stock gains were materially reduced by currency losses, so entry timing looks better now.
Dollar weakness lifts gold and crypto.
A weakening dollar is lifting hard assets and crypto: gold is moving again, and Bitcoin and Ethereum are also rising. Lee frames this as part of the current dollar-weakness trade.
Robotis gains from actuators and humanoids.
Robotis is an actuator-market beneficiary that drew unusually heavy crowds at the Beijing World Robot exhibition. Lee spoke with Robotis officials: the company has launched a 120cm humanoid research robot priced at 50 million won for Q4, plans a physical AI action-data business using its robots, and is already exporting actuators to China, apparently supplying one of the top three Chinese humanoid robot companies. US replacement demand for Chinese components is another growth driver.
Korean actuator suppliers benefit from US substitution.
Samsung is preparing humanoid robotics with Rainbow Robotics, and SPG supplies actuators to Rainbow Robotics. Precision reducer and humanoid demand is a new growth driver. Because the US is restricting Chinese components, Korean actuator companies such as SPG and Rainbow Robotics should benefit from US substitution demand, though if the US does not restrict Chinese actuators the group would have to be sold.
SK Telecom breaks out on data centers.
SK Telecom is breaking through the 104,000 won area that repeatedly capped it. It operates the 15GW data center buildout, has equity exposure to Anthropic's IPO, and should be viewed as a data center/neocloud company. Lee expects follow-through to the next level if it holds in regular trading.
Korean neocloud/data center market will grow.
Medium- and long-term investors should approach AI infrastructure through data center and neocloud operators. The Korean neocloud market is set to grow, with SK Telecom, Naver, GS, and KT all participating or repositioning toward this theme.
Seegene buyback disappoints; growth needs M&A.
Seegene is rising after announcing an 11% share cancellation and has recovering earnings, but Lee is critical: for a growth company, cash should have been used aggressively for M&A and future growth rather than buybacks. He views the buyback/cancellation as disappointing capital allocation, so the pop is not a clean bullish signal.
