GPT-6/Astra efficacy forces more AI hardware spending.
The GPT-6/Astra AI agent is viewed as a breakout because its task-completion probability jumps from roughly 17-20% to 40-50%, making even much higher token costs economically acceptable when the AI does real work. That intensifies OpenAI-Anthropic competition and forces more AI hardware investment, especially at 100k-GPU training scale, so AI semiconductor and memory demand must rise.
Memory rebound started; hold/add Samsung, Hynix.
The memory semiconductor rebound has begun: US-listed SK Hynix ADR, Micron, Seagate and SanDisk surged, and Korean names are following. Lee argues memory is the sector that can outperform even if rates rise, and says holders must not sell into the rebound, those without positions should add now, and those stuck at high prices should lower their average cost. He sees SK Hynix challenging 178,000 won and Samsung Electronics needing to settle above 27,000 won.
Robotis wins from Hugging Face robot parts.
Robotis is a direct beneficiary of the Hugging Face robot effect because it supplied key components to Hugging Face's duck-shaped bipedal robot, which is used for AI data collection and is now linked to NVIDIA. Institutional buying is concentrated in Robotis among non-semiconductor names, and the stock continues to rise.
SK Telecom benefits from Anthropic/data centers.
SK Telecom is both an Anthropic IPO beneficiary and a long-term AI data center owner. It has a six-month target of 110,000 won, Anthropic's delayed IPO should still happen and its valuation may exceed SpaceX at around 2 trillion dollars, Horizon stake sale proceeds are arriving, and it is building 15GW of data centers sequentially including Ulsan 100MW and Guro 75MW.
NHN can grow neocloud with GPU expansion.
NHN is the smallest Korean neocloud company but the first to confirm data center potential with concrete capacity numbers; it plans 30MW of additional capacity by 2027. The company is a niche cash generator and could become a real Korean neocloud player if it secures more GPUs.
Record refining margins boost Korean refining names.
US refinery utilization has reached 98% and global distillate, gasoline and lubricant margins are strong, with distillate prices at record highs. Korean refining-linked names benefit directly or indirectly: S-Oil and SK Innovation have refining operations, HD Hyundai owns HD Hyundai Oilbank, and GS owns GS Caltex.
Foreign futures positioning favors KOSPI upside.
Ahead of the Thursday futures and options expiry, foreigners hold a net-up futures position while institutions are net-down, and Lee expects foreigners to win. He says foreign buying of futures and cash supports the market being held up into expiry, creating a short-term index and futures setup.
Hanmi Semiconductor gains from 2.5D packaging equipment.
Hanmi Semiconductor is gaining recognition after reports that it supplied new 2.5D packaging equipment to a global OSAT, adding an incremental growth driver beyond the memory rebound. Foreign and institutional investors bought heavily on Friday, suggesting institutions are positioning for this packaging-equipment story.
Power shortage drives hydrogen fuel cell demand.
Data center builders face severe electricity shortages, so even expensive hydrogen fuel cells must be deployed. Doosan Fuel Cell is a direct beneficiary because Blue Energy's output is limited and demand is spilling over to Doosan Fuel Cell; Bumhan Fuel Cell is moving with the same fuel cell theme. Doosan Fuel Cell's earlier 500 billion won order initially failed to lift the stock but it has now recovered.
Doosan CCL/substrate rebound looks likely.
Doosan Corp is tied to CCL and its substrate business is strong. The stock has roughly halved from its high and is at a level where a rebound is likely, similar to the Samsung Electro-Mechanics MLCC recovery setup, even if valuation debate continues.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics MLCC recovery can continue.
Samsung Electro-Mechanics is recovering slowly from a high-level drawdown in an MLCC-like bottoming pattern. Lee says if it continues rising, it can retry the 150,000 won area and possibly reach the upper 140,000s or late 140,000s, making it a component cyclical rebound candidate.
CCL/Broadcom strength lifts PCB/substrate names.
CCL strength is positive for Isu Petasys. Broadcom's good earnings also support the MLB side, where Daeduk Electronics is attractive and has been heavily bought by foreigners recently, making Korean PCB and substrate names a rebound candidate.
OpenAI validation lifts Oracle and SoftBank.
Oracle had been undervalued because of concerns over its OpenAI investment and associated credit and capex burden, but the GPT-6/Astra breakthrough validates OpenAI and lifts OpenAI investment-related companies. Oracle and SoftBank are rising into earnings and are now favored by the market.
Front-end semiconductor equipment joins rebound.
Back-end process equipment names already surged, and Friday's spike in Wonik IPS shows front-end process equipment is joining the move. Eugene Technology, which had already risen relatively more, may move again, and PSK rose more than 4%, making these front-end equipment names worth watching for a challenge higher.
